Today was a beautiful drive from Ohio to Pennsylvania through the Allegheny Mountains and across majestic rivers while the trees were changing their hues to reds and oranges. Using Google Maps, it was stated that taking Interstate 80 was equivalent in time and distance to taking the Interstate 76. Don't believe it! Both routes calculated to 360 mile and 5 hours and 30 minutes but taking route 80 was much longer in time. My advice...take the turnpike and pay the toll.
However, we did go by Puxsutawney PA, the home of the official weather predicting groundhog, Puxsutawney Phill.

We were doing well on travel time until we were sucked into a black hole in Cornwall Iron Furnace, the site of the most complete charcoal iron furnace in the USA.

At this site, the GPS Navigator fell into an inexplicable loop, taking us in a circle with a diameter of several miles. Only when the astute awareness of the human navigator (that would be my amazingly wonderful wife) recognized the problem...after the third go around. :) We switched to cellphone navigation and were again on our way.
We arrived to our friend's Nick and Ellie's house in Honey Brook, PA at about 6:30 pm, just in time to hear the cork pop on a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon. Ellie made her usual great dinner of crab cakes, turnips and broccoli before more wine was consumed.
It was great to catch up with events since our last meeting about 9 months ago.
Travel distance = 362 miles.
